mildly interesting emails unrelated to the topic of a rtkl request

The arena is such a contentious topic! I am really interested in how this process is playing out behind closed doors. The Mayor and CM Squilla have to make public statements, and the opposition is very vocal. But obviously all the decisions are not being reached through a truly public process. I submitted a RTKL request for: “A copy of all correspondence between Daniel Hilferty, Todd Glickman (Comcast), Nick Ragone (Jefferson), Josh Harris, David Blitzer, David Adelmen (76 DevCo) and/or John Chin (Phila Chinatown Development Corp.) and the Mayor's Office and/or Councilmember Squilla's office relating to 76 Place from 1/1/23 to present.” Just to see what might be said via email.

There’s nothing from the main 3 guys from the Sixers or Comcast. I’m guessing their communications happen 1) via meetings and/or 2) through a comms person or counsel or some other rep. John Chin from PCDC does his own emailing, which I respect. I obviously would not function professionally but for the assistance of my paralegal and admin, but I am not above scheduling my own meetings etc.

The most interesting tidbits were not directly related to the arena. There’s one from the City asking Jefferson for a comment supporting the back-to-office mandate, and there was some discussion of the closing of the greyhound terminal. I am putting some selections below, and at the bottom of the post is the full 300+ page production from the City.

I like that Councilmember Squilla is so straightfoward in many emails.

The Mayor’s Communications Office wants quotes from “third party validators” in support of their in-office mandate.

this is just the first paragraph, the whole email had a bunch of citations to the code arguing that there shouldn’t be a CDR review meeting

this guy! advocating for historic designation as a solution to “gentrification and land speculation”.  is that the purpose of historic districts?
